About The Department
Marina has been a Public Safety Department with the police and
fire services combined for over 25 years, but now has its own separate
police and fire division. The Police Department has thirty six (36)
sworn officers, and eight (8) non-sworn personnel. The current authorized
staffing is one (1) Chief, one (1) Commander, four (4) Lieutenants,
six (6) Sergeants and twenty-four (24) Officers. Marina has the
flexibility to temporarily under-fill the Police Officer classification
with the Police Trainee entry-level classification, as necessary.
Those sworn positions are supported by one (1) Administrative Assistant,
one (1) Records Supervisor, two (2) Records Technicians, and four
(4) Community Service Officers. The department services include
various police patrol services, vehicle abatement, records, including
live scan fingerprinting, animal control, school resource services,
and crime prevention through environmental design.
About The City
The City of Marina has approximately 118 full time employees,
and several seasonal workers, part-time/temporary workers and volunteers,
including Volunteer Fire Fighters and Police Reserves. The general
fund budget is $12.8 million, a total budget of $32.7 million. The
City is a full-service city, and consists of the following departments:
City Managers Office, Police, Fire, Airport, Community Development,
including Planning, Engineering, Building and Public Works, Strategic
Development, including Redevelopment, Housing, Real Estate and Property
Management, Economic Development, Recreation and Cultural Services,
Finance, City Clerk, and Human Resources and Risk Management.
