The Investigations section is responsible for coordinating police investigations that require extensive case follow up or investigation, require specific expertise or sensitivity. The detectives also gather and preserve evidence, recover stolen property prepare cases for successful prosecution and conviction of offenders.
Detectives receive specialized investigative training that is recognized state wide.
Typically, officers chosen to serve in this unit serve two to five years as a detective before returning to patrol assignments. The Investigation Section is managed by the Administration Lieutenant.
